Benanti

120-year-old Carricante vines, gnarled and twisted, sprouting proudly out of the volcanic soils of Sicily's Mount Etna. The Benanti winery has some of the oldest vines and best vineyards in the region, and this shows in their wines. It is an utter privilege for everyone to walk among the vines and try current and older vintages in their cantina.
Giuseppe Benanti set up a winery there at the end of the 19th century, revived in the 1980s by his grandson, also called Giuseppe. Cantina Benanti is now run by his two sons, Antonio and Salvino. Today Benanti is world renowned as among the finest of Italian wineries, and the most prestigious on Etna. A lot of this reputation is founded on the success of their top white wine, Pietra Marina, regularly labelled as not just the best white wine from Sicily, but the best white wine from Italy too and indeed among the very best in the world.
