MD is a traditional paper producer from São Paulo. It is a unit of the Formitex group and operates another plant in Limeira, also in São Paulo.
In April 2018, Finland’s Ahlstrom-Munksjö has agreed to purchase a special papers plant from MD Papéis in Caieiras, São Paulo for €100 million.
Ahlstrom, meanwhile, is one of the largest producers of special papers in the world with annual net sales of €2.2 billion, and already operates two plants in Brazil.
The factory sold has capacity for 72,000 tonnes a year of decorative, filtering, self-adhesive and flexible packaging papers.
